MUSEUM VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Volunteer help is a critical factor in the life of non-profits such as the Wayne County Historical Museum. The savings in cash to the Museum cannot be measured. The list of our volunteers is growing but more are needed. If you have a special skill or interest, there may be a place for you in the Museum volunteer program. Museum tour guides met with Jim Harlan for lunch and a training session in September. Over 4,000 students come for tours during the year, not to mention the senior groups, clubs, and organizations that frequent the Museum. Several new guides are now serving with seasoned guides. We thank them all! If you would like to be a part of the Museum volunteer staff, you should contact the Museum at (765) 962-5756.
Volunteer Form Volunteers are needed in these areas: Volunteer Coordinator: Person to keep records and coordinate duties of guides and other volunteers. 2-3 hour commitment each week. Administrative Volunteers: Help with preparing the quarterly newsletter and mailing. Writing, editing and computer skills are important. Help set up a schedule for other mailings. Carpenter, masonry, electrical skills: Help in this area would be needed when jobs are planned. 3-4 hours of commitment for each session would be expected. Volunteer guides or interpreters: Guides lead tours, interpreters are costumed for special occasions. Interpreters stay in particular area of the Museum to interact with the visitors. No special skills are needed for either, just friendliness, enthusiasm and willing to learn the correct information. General help: There are various kinds of help needed from cleaning moving exhibits, helping in the gift shop or preparing for special events. At least a 3 hour commitment is needed and if possible, on a weekly or bi-weekly basis
